All our base malts are floor malted. We’ve been told numerous times that we’re crazy to go down this road. So why have we chosen floor malting? Have a read of our “why floor malt” blog in the resource section.
Cara Dex
Uniquely, we produce our Dextrin malt using the roaster. Using South Australian barley, we steep, germinate and then roast this grain to a recipe that we have worked tirelessly to create.
The results are a grain that has minimal contributions to your colour or flavour, but maximum contributions to you head formation and retention, as well as the body and mouthfeel of your beer.
Light Crystal
Our Light Crystal brings light caramel and deeper crystalline sugar to both aroma and flavour. Best suited to bring depth to traditional al es and l agers, the sweetness is apparent but not cloying. Light Crystal can also provide a depth of character for Australian Pales and Golden Ales. A great malt overall, it’s a versatile team player in any grist bill.
Medium Crystal
The next step up, Medium Crystal brings a heavier caramel and toffee note that is right at home with English style cask ales, mil ds and bitters. It also excels as an ingredient in red ales and bigger beers such as barleywines. Like the Light crystal the flavour is perceivably sweet but not cloying.
Our Medium Crystal can provide the backbone to many winter warming and bigger beer styles.
Chocolate Malts
A beautiful malt that brings softer notes of Dutch cocoa, milk chocolate and light roast to your darker beers. Lighter in colour, the malt is a perfect addition to brown ales, porters, dark lagers and stouts.
Roast Malt
Simply made, clean roasted malt, without the harsh astringency so common in many Roasted malts. It allows brewers to make Dry Irish Stouts, Baltic Porters and heavily coloured beers that benefit from clean roasted character.
Smoked Malts
Coming soon! Andrew loves peated whisky and this has been a project of passion and persistence. Our aim is to produce Australian malt, peated with Australian peat, peated traditionally through the malting process, to allow Australian distillers to produce peated whiskies with terroir and character.
Contract Roasting
Available soon! We will have capacity for contract malting. Malts will be floor-malted, by hand, and in 1 to 2 tonne batches - ideal for craft brewers or distillers with access to their own barley.

We know roasting! We love roasting! With 3 different roasters available for use (depending on size) we can roast batches from 1kg up to 1,800kg. If you have any malt, barley, wheat or anything at all that needs roasting, give us a call.
